Student Health Insurance
Health Insurance coverage is required as a Condition of Enrollment at most colleges and universities for students enrolled at least half-time in eligible classes.
Our research has found that most plans offered by colleges and universities fall short on coverage. Most do not cover pre-existing conditions and have many limitations and many of these plans stop coverage whenever and student is not enrolled for instance during the summer and of course after graduation. If the student is in good health and does not have pre-existing conditions this works out fine, however if they do have health issues they may find it difficult to buy coverage at a later date.
We recommend the same coverage for children and students that we do for all families. Plus, the coverage is not tied to school enrollment and will remain in effect long after graduation if needed.
